HOBOKEN, New Jersey. On October 5, 2007 the Liberty Coalition discovered an Excel file that appears to contain sensitive personal information of approximately 147 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. employees in the Tampa, Florida area on wiley.com. The file appears to contain Employee ID numbers, Social Security Numbers, Benefit information, Addresses, Salary, Benefit, and Tax information. The Liberty Coalition repeatedly requested that Wiley remove the file from their website. However, it was not confirmed removed until November 15, 2007. more...

LITHUANIA. In August, 2007, the Liberty Coalition discovered a text log file from a Lithuanian identity theft website containing names, credit card information, PINs, addresses, phone numbers, passwords, drivers license numbers, mothers' maiden names, dates of birth, social security numbers, bank routing numbers, and other personal information for roughly 128 people. According to the server, the file was last edited on March 3, 2007 and was available until September 14, 2007. Unfortunately, because the site appeared to be run by criminals outside of the United States, the Liberty Coalition was unable to speed the removal of the information. more...

FREE COUNTRY, USA. On October 2, 2007 the Crazy Go Nuts University golf coach, who goes by the last name "Z," posted the names, Social Security Numbers, Dates of Birth, Addresses, Phone Numbers, Grades and other information for golf students on the university website. The personal information was contained in an Excel file which, according to the server, had been online since March 2004. Individuals affected by this breach seemed to be members of the CGNU Golf Club Team, and are at extreme risk of identity theft and fraud. more...
